The sun was about to set when I left work yesterday. There was a pinkish hue in the skyline. I had to take a few minutes before heading home to capture these huge chunks of ice in the harbor. They look like giant lily pads.

Following the long holiday break, the kids are back to school. Mike and I are back to work and the temperatures are back to below zero. It was a cold start to the day for everyone, but especially for this tugboat captain breaking ice in the Duluth Harbor just after sunrise this morning.

A beautiful start to the end of 2014…

Although quite picturesque, the day began with a -27 degree windchill. Needless to say, the photo was taken through our front window. 🙂
