It Never Gets Old

By request, Mike and I brought Sophia and her friends to Canal Park on Saturday evening to celebrate her (belated) birthday.  She and her friends wanted to go out to dinner and walk around Canal Park and the Lakewalk.  It was a nice evening and there were many tourists in the shops, restaurants and wandering around by the lake.  We decided to also do the tourist thing while waiting for Sophia and her friends.  As we walked around by the lake we saw the stream of tourists headed for the canal in anticipation of a large ship making its way into port.  Although we have seen more ships than we can count over the years, we paused and decided to watch the ship too.  As we watched it approach, we realized it is still fun to see after all these years.  I’m still amazed that they can navigate through the narrow canal and under the Aerial Lift Bridge.  It really never gets old.

Perfect Day

To celebrate my recent birthday, Mike suggested that we take the day off from work and go hiking up the North Shore. I am grateful that he made the recommendation. The weather was gorgeous for early June. Here are a few highlights of our road trip.

Shovel Point, Tettegouche State Park

Baptism River above the High Falls, Tettegouche State Park

High Falls, Tettegouche State Park

One of the locals.

Silver Bay Marina

Silver Creek Cliff Tunnel

The Shack, Stoney Point

After we arrived home, I insisted on a family photo in front of the apple tree in the backyard.

Thank you to everyone who wished me a Happy Birthday.  It was indeed.
