Spring?

It doesn’t look much like spring around here, but we decided to venture out to the lakewalk  to have some outdoor fun anyway.  Sebastian received a longboard (skateboard) for Christmas and has had little opportunity to use it.  We packed up the longboard and Sophia’s old scooter and headed out for some fresh air.

Spring On The Lakewalk

Along the way, we saw four deer grazing on small saplings along a hillside.

Mesabi Miner

I’m not overly knowledgeable about shipping on the Great Lakes, but it was pretty cool to watch the first departure of the season by the Mesabi Miner today.  I saw her out in the harbor when I came to work this morning with a small tugboat alongside her.  There is stil a good amount of ice in the harbor and the tug was there to assist as needed.  The Mesabi Miner departed Duluth headed for Marquette, Michigan to drop off a cargo of coal.  She will return back to Duluth on Saturday to load iron ore pellets.  She will be the first arrival of the season in Marquette and will become the first arrival in Duluth on Saturday when she returns for cargo.  The shipping details above are from duluthshippingnews.com

Snapshots

Mike had a Little League coaches meeting tonight.  The kids and I were home getting things ready for a busy school and work week ahead.  After lunches were packed, showers were taken and all papers were in order, the kids allowed me to snap a few pictures of each of them.  Sebastian actually allowed me to take two…and one wasn’t so great.  Sophia got her camera out and took pictures too.
