The temperatures remained below zero all day today so Sophia and I decided to stay indoors and bake cookies.  We didn’t bake any Christmas cookies this year and we were both craving something sweet.  We also wanted to make some treats for our neighbor who was kind enough to snow blow our driveway while we were out-of-town during the 24″ snow storm at Christmas.

And so we began…

Ingredients
Ingredients Plus A Helper

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees (or 350 for convection oven).

Preheat Oven

We started by adding one stick of butter (softened) with one half cup of Butter-Flavored Crisco to our bowl.  Sophia was in charge of mixing.

Then we added 3/4 cup brown sugar and 3/4 cup granulated white sugar.

More Mixing

Add two eggs.

Add one teaspoon of vanilla.

We measured the dry ingredients into a separate bowl – 2 1/4 cups flour, one teaspoon salt and one teaspoon baking soda.   Sophia added the dry ingredients  to our main mixing bowl.

Sophia was quite excited when it was finally time for the chocolate chips.
