On The Edge

We made an impromptu road trip up the North Shore of Lake Superior last Saturday.  It was Sebastian’s birthday and he wanted to keep things low-key.  We made our way past Two Harbors, Gooseberry Falls and Castle Danger and brought the kids to Palisade Head.  It is a favorite place to go for incredible views of the lake and 200-300 foot cliffs above the water’s surface.  The cliffs without railings paired with gusty high winds made it a bit nerve-wracking for Mike who is not a fan of heights.

We made a stop in Silver Bay on the way home.  High waves were crashing along the lake shore and we found the perfect place to watch it happen and feel the spray of the water as the waves hit the rocky shoreline.  I will post those photos this weekend. Check back!

Strength

There is one additional photo that didn’t make it to my last post, but is definitely worth including.  My camera battery went dead when I was going to get a shot or two of Sebastian.  While Mike went back to the house to get a fresh battery, I used Sebastian’s iPhone to capture him showing off his strength.  Sebastian sent this to me after I made the last post.

A Trip Out To The Country

We made an impromptu trip out to visit my Mom on Saturday.  We brought food for an easy dinner, hopped in the Pathfinder and journeyed out to the country.  We made it in time to go evening church service.  We had to get there early so that my Mom could bring flowers for the altar.  She picks them fresh out of her garden each week, makes a beautiful arrangement and then puts them in two matching vases.  This week she had beautiful mix of lilies and a few lazy Susan’s, along with some greenery.  I didn’t take a photo, but here are a couple of images from her garden to give you a sense of her green thumb.

After church and dinner, Sophia and I ventured out to the field to see the beginnings of a beautiful sunset.

Sophia grumbled the whole way, complaining about the bugs buzzing around her head and the grass poking through her shoes.  She ended up admitting it was worth the hike when she saw the view from atop the hill.

We decided to have a little fun.
