Happy 7th Birthday Sophia!

Three Weeks Old
Almost Seven Years Old

Sophia ~ you are funny, creative, artistic, smart, beautiful, thoughtful and stubborn.  You are over 4 feet tall now, you have lost four teeth, you love your dog Daphne, playing on the monkey bars, going to gymnastics and you enjoy sweets just like your Mom.  You are a wonderful daughter and a delight to everyone who knows you.  We wish you a very happy birthday and thank you for the joy you have brought to our family.

Week 21 Theme ~ A Need For Speed

Flying High

Our very old swing set is still a favorite place for the kids to spend time after school.  Sophia and Sebastian both swing so high that they brush the tree branches behind them.

I also had the opportunity to photograph the Hon. James L. Oberstar as it was being towed in place behind the DECC for its christening during the “need for speed” theme week.  Mike would not have enjoyed the location for taking the photographs – on top of the DECC Arena roof.  It was a little freaky to be that high up, but I stayed several feet from the edge.  There was not much “speed” in this photo, but slow and steady helped to get the ship in its very tight port behind the DECC.

Week 22 Theme ~ Reflection

With all of the craziness of this past week, including my birthday, baseball games, practices, volleyball, grad parties, etc., I didn’t have time to take a “reflection” photo.  Instead, here is a favorite reflection from last year at Hartley pond on Father’s Day.

Reflection

The Gymnast

Sophia had her final gymnastics class (until next fall) last Wednesday.  They finished up the session with an open house for families to see what the students have been learning during class.  All levels and ages of kids were represented.  All the way from the pre-schoolers learning the basics to the teenagers doing floor exercises and bars.  It was a full house with standing room only, but I did manage to snap a few photos of Sophia showing off her moves.

Sophia always ends the night with a time or two on the monkey bars outside before heading home.  She thinks it helps to build up her arm strength for gymnastics…or maybe it’s just a lot of fun.
