Spring Skiing

The kids were on spring break earlier this month.  We decided to spend one of the days enjoying some spring skiing.  We drove up to Giant’s Ridge Ski Hill on Sunday.  We skied, swam in the pool and enjoyed a nice dinner. We returned home the next day. It was a quick trip, but a nice way for the kids to begin their break.  Mike and the kids took a few pictures on the hill with his iPhone.  I missed out on the photos and selfies.  I was there skiing too…just not as fast or on the difficult runs that they were on.

Squatters

The local deer population seems to think that our backyard (and our neighbor’s) is the hip place to hang out.  We have daily sightings of up to six deer at a time.  I spotted these two at 6:00 a.m. earlier this week.  The first one was lying on top of the tiny irises that had just started to poke through the frozen ground.  The deer didn’t  mind that I was taking photos and I was within 30 feet of them when Sophia let Daphne out in the backyard.  They got up and wandered over to the neighbor’s two doors down and were still there when I left the house with Sebastian at 8:00 a.m.

Blood Moon

I wasn’t planning to get up in the middle of the night and take photos of the full moon, but when I woke up shortly before 2:00 a.m. I decided that I should at least check it out. I think it was worth going outside in my bathrobe in sub-freezing temperatures to see this. I didn’t wait to for the peak of the lunar eclipse, but instead went back to bed to get some rest before my 5:30 a.m. alarm.
