Dinosaurs and Tall Ships

We’ve had an interesting week with two unique events going on in the area.  In between baseball and soccer practices and games, we’ve seen Tall Ships and Dinosaurs.

Last weekend the Tall Ships were in town.  Since they were docked outside my back door at work, I couldn’t help but snap a few pictures.  There was light fog in the morning before the first day of tours began.  People were lined up early for their chance to view and board the ships.

The Tall Ships departed earlier this week only to be replaced by the Dinosaurs.  The four of us went to see the show last night.  We were not disappointed.  Instead of lugging my big camera with, I brought the old Panasonic camera with to capture a few pictures.  It did surprisingly well.  These are our favorites from the evening.

We probably won’t have anything quite as interesting to post about next week, although Sean’s 40th birthday party is only 7 days away. 🙂

Baseball Playoffs

Sebastian’s team finished a very respectable 2nd place in the Little League Minors division last night.  They had a great season and it was fun to see the improvement in their batting and fielding throughout the season.  In the final inning of last night’s game, Sebastian had an awesome hit into the outfield.  We thought he would certainly make it to second base, but his ball was caught by the son of one our best friends who plays on the opposing team.  Although the kids were disappointed to not finish first, they did have some exciting games during playoffs including one that went into extra innings.  Sebastian knocked in the winning run for that game!  We really enjoyed the season are sad to see the end of Little League baseball for the year.  There is actually have one more weekend of baseball next week when Sebastian’s All-Star team competes in a local tournament.  Rumor has it that games begin at 8am on Friday and run all weekend.  We can all hardly wait. 🙂

Here’s our little superstar.

Randomness

My intention was to do a recap about our trip, but we’ve had a number of things going on since we came back that need some recognition first.

Sebastian was chosen for the 9 & 10 year old All-Star baseball team earlier this month.  He is winding down his regular Little League season with a playoff game tonight (his 3rd this week), has a practice for All-Stars tomorrow, participates in an All-Stars tournament this weekend, followed by one or two more playoff games next week if his team wins tonight and keeps winning.

Papa Tom & Nana Karen came to cheer him on last night.  It’s nice to have your own fan club at age 9!  The ice cream after the game compliments of Nana & Papa was very nice too.

Sophia lost her second tooth yesterday.  She had been asking for me to pull it out for a couple of weeks.  Each time she asked me, I mentioned that it may bleed or hurt a little.  We decided to wait until it was just right before we do it – just like last time – no pain and no blood, all smiles.  After a very minor incident with an elbow to her mouth yesterday at daycare, it popped right out.  Thanks Alexander, we know it was an accident!

The small pool in our backyard is up and running for the season.  Everyone has enjoyed cooling off in it, especially Sophia.

Making A Splash

I have a number of photos from our cabin weekends with the Sullivan family from Memorial Day and the end of June that I haven’t posted.  Maybe I will do a summer cabin recap post after Labor Day with the best ones.  For now, here are a few that caught my eye.

Okay, that’s enough randomness for one day.  Off to the baseball field!
