MCP Project 52 ~ Week 32

Week 32 Theme ~ Favorite Time Of Day

During last week’s vacation to a rental cabin in Hayward, the four of us spent time doing things as a family that didn’t involve electronics or driving anywhere.  We didn’t have our regular busy schedules filled with work, meetings, practices, games and appointments.  After our long, lazy days enjoyed outside at the lake, we spent our evenings playing board games and cards.  Although the whole day was wonderful and relaxing, I loved the quiet evenings just hanging out as a family.  This picture is of Mike and Sebastian having a quiet moment together as they played chess by the dim light from the window.

New Pavement

A small section of our street was repaved earlier this month.  Sebastian and Sophia were both excited to try out the new blacktop with their scooters.  After years of dodging potholes, cracks and loose gravel, the kids could hardly wait to feel a smooth road under their wheels.  Sebastian got geared up – helmet, knee pads, elbow pads, wrist guards – and hit the road.

Sophia went straight from the pool out to the pavement – just in case you notice that she’s only wearing a swimsuit with her bike helmet and shoes.  I was a little worried that she might end up with some road rash with all of that exposed skin, but she stayed at a snail’s pace to keep me happy.

Slow And Steady

They are both eagerly anticipating tomorrow afternoon when new pavement on the next two blocks are done.  Future plans do not include paving our entire street, but I’m sure the kids will get plenty of enjoyment out of the three blocks that are redone.

Staycation, Part III

More boating, beach time, tubing, toad hunting, fireworks and a thunderstorm finished up our time at the cabin.

Fireworks

Dark clouds were in the distance when we took the pontoon down the lake to watch the fireworks.  While we were waiting for the show to begin, heat lightning started to light the sky.  The heat lightning became more intense, the fireworks started and despite the great display, we realized that we needed to head back to the cabin.  In the dark, with lightning flashing to help light our way, Tom drove the pontoon safely, but quickly,  back to the cabin.  While I took the kids inside, Mike and his parents got the pontoon under the boat cover, put all of the beach items away and made it into the cabin just before the downpour began.
