Down The Rabbit Hole

I had quite a surprise while cleaning up my flower garden this weekend.  I was removing last season’s dead leaves from a hosta plant when a small creature hopped out from a burrow dug beside the plant.

Babies

They almost look like chipmunks in the photo above, but if you look closely in the photo below, there is evidence of bunny ears.

Ears

At the end of March, Sophia and I spotted this little lady in the backyard.  We had no idea at the time that she was looking for a place to have her babies.

Another pleasant surprise was finding this little blue beauty.

I am so glad spring is finally here!

Easter Cupcakes

Sophia and I tapped into our creativity and decorated Easter themed cupcakes tonight.

Easter Bunnies

Bunnies – cupcakes with buttercream frosting, marshmallows sliced diagonally and dipped in colored sugar for ears, chocolate chip eyes and a Cadbury mini egg candy nose.

Hen & Chicks

Chicks – cupcakes with yellow tinted buttercream frosting, chocolate chip eyes and a sliced Swedish fish beak.

Bird’s Nests

Bird’s Nests – cupcakes with buttercream frosting dipped in shredded coconut with cocoa powder and Cadbury mini egg candies.

Sophia is a pro at decorating.  Perhaps Cupcake Wars is in her future?

I hope they taste as good as they look.

One Last Blast Of Winter

I may be jinxing things with that title, but hopefully this will be the last round of real winter weather until…well…next winter.  We live in Minnesota though, so I can’t pretend we won’t have more cold temperatures and, yes, more snow.  Hopefully just not as much as we have had over the past few days.

After waking up yesterday to see what had become a winter wonderland, I made a small detour on my way to work to enjoy one last blast of winter.

I took these next photos on my way home at lunchtime.  Another small detour.
