Family Ski Day

Today was our last chance to use our free Spirit Mountain ski passes.  Despite sustained winds of 23 mph and wind gusts of 35 mph, we put on our gear and headed to the mountain.  My niece and nephew came with their friends and joined us.  We had a great time with less than ideal conditions.  Sebastian did most of his skiing with the big kids, while Mike, Sophia and I skied together.  Sophia is becoming a great skier.  Although I was able to stay ahead of her on the slopes today, I think this may be my last year of out-skiing anyone in the family.  Sophia is definitely ready for the Chester Bowl Ski Races next season.  Perhaps she will even win a trophy or two like her big brother did this year.

Spring In Duluth

Sophia was certain that it couldn’t possibly be the first day of Spring yesterday.  I asked, why?  She explained that during Spring, there is no snow.  There is green grass and flowers.  I guess she doesn’t realize she lives in Minnesota.  Her brother spent this morning (the 2nd day of Spring) shoveling the driveway.  He did the sidewalk and and the whole driveway by himself.  Maybe we can teach him how to mow the lawn this summer. 🙂
